September 28, 2009 at 2:44 AM (Just for fun!)

voteHey guys I’m here to remind you all how important it is to register to vote! It is even more important to register to vote where you live. I am mainly pinpointing college students who are probably registered back home where they lived with their parents, but I am here to say you should register for the place you live at for school. More than likely you spend more time there than at your hometown. This means that the decisions made in your college town directly affect you more than the decisions made back at home. So take that into consideration and take 5 minutes out of your day and fill out a voter registration form for the town that you are currently living in!

Poor Taylor!

September 14, 2009 at 3:40 AM (Just for fun!)

I cannot believe what happened to Taylor Swift tonight at the VMA’s. She was a nominee, along with Beyonce and many other talented ladies, for the best female video of the year.  Taylor Swift won the award and went up to accept her moon man and give her speech. While thanking the director and fans her microphone was taken away by Kanye West. He told her that he was happy for her, but then he said that Beyonce’s video was the greatest of all time. Basically saying that Taylor did not deserve the award. Poor Taylor was speechless after that lashing and walked of the stage.

Later in the night Beyonce went on to win the Video of the Year award and like a gracious winner and loser allowed Taylor to come out and have her award winning moment the right way. Way to go, both of you!

pigs001.jpg

Today 109 cases of the swine flu have been confirmed in the United States. This is a contagious respiratory disease that comes from pigs that can be passed on to humans! The severity of the disease can vary, but be careful. It has only been found in 11 states in the United States so far, and the Center of Disease Control is hoping to find a way from preventing the spread of this dreadful disease. Symptoms include runny nose, fever, nausea, sore throat, vomiting, and diarrhea.

I really need to get more involved!!!

April 30, 2009 at 8:06 PM (Just for fun!)

This semester is the first semester that I have really started to get in to public relations courses. I have met some many other students in the same field and have really realized that I need to get involved more! I have let just the schooling part of college consume my life and haven’t taken advantage of the other opportunities on campus. One of the things that I am planning on getting involved in is the PRSSA on campus. This will obviously benefit me and my future with public relations! Another thing that I was considering was giving back to the community and helping out with Habitat for Humanity.

Those two organizations will not only look good to future employers, but they will also things that I can look back on and think, “Wow I really did something in my college career, other than school, school, school!”

Crazed Marketing Professor

April 27, 2009 at 8:20 PM (Just for fun!)

April 25, 2009 a marketing professor at the University of Georgia shot and killed 3 people. One of the victims turned out to be his ex-wife. George Zinkhan is the name of the professor. The whole story is not all there, but be careful! A nationwide manhunt is still being conducted to find this man.

ZZzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzZZ

Today, March 10 2009, is National Napping Day! Yesterday we had daylight savings time and we did the “spring ahead”. This means ultimately we lose a whole hour of sleep!!! Well in 1999 someone that that the fact of losing an hour of sleep was ludacris and that we should do something about it, so National Napping Day was established. All I have to say about this is grab a pillow and a blanket and get to celebrating this great holiday!!!

Hello world!

January 20, 2009 at 10:30 PM (Just for fun!, PRCA 3711)

Hello everyone! My name is Ashley, a junior at Georgia Southern University and a public relations major. This blog got started a little over a year ago when I began taking my major classes. The blog was a requirement for the class and later became a requirement for many others. My blog is mainly focused on public relations topics that we discuss in class, read in our texts and so forth. I have now gotten to the point where my main focus is gaining experience for the work-field. Right now I am getting into how to write the perfect resume, interview tips, and things to put in my portfolio. Any tips that anyone has on that topic, feel free to comment on this post with tips!!! A big thing that I am wanting to do is get an internship, preferably this summer. I feel as if that will really help me gain true working expereince and perhaps help me to decide what aspect of PR that I like the best. Well that’s all for now. Keep your fingers crossed for me on the internship and remember to comment with tips!!!
